Technology Blog 1: Developing a Connected Learning Model
This chapter discusses the importance of professional learning communities, personal learning networks, and communities of practice within a career. It references how technology has evolved to connect people and build a community. This becomes a vital part of networking for yourself and your own personal beliefs. Using technology to share language and communicate gives understanding to those who share a career. This collaboration through conversation and reflection gives purpose for making improvements to a field of study and knowledge.
The reading stresses the benefits of learning from others to build personal ideas and growth in passion. Seeing the viewpoints of peers puts thoughts into new perspectives. The chapter acknowledges that we learn through “a world of constant change”, making formed relationships and connections especially more meaningful. This allows for community and personal growth to occur at once. The reading references this with the way teachers use their relationships with each other to improve their curriculum and their impact on students. Finding diversity with several ideas and backgrounds are crucial to forming a strong group. Embracing diversity consisting of agreements and disagreements strengthens the community.
Using this information from chapter 2, I can connect what I learned to becoming a physical therapist. Building connections with other physical therapists in the future will be key toward improvement with research and patient satisfaction. Communication with each other will provide discussion on new ideas and techniques. Working as a team will contribute to advancements and improve patient outcomes. I can use networking to enhance my work as a physical therapist. By making relationships and learning from others with shared knowledge and personal experiences, I can find my own ways to grow in my career.

I like how you took the material we read about and related it back to physical therapy. It is very important to connect with other doctors and explore different ways to make advancements within your own personal career and field as a whole. Learning new material can potentially help bring patients back to 100% more effectively and efficiently. I am a strong believer that networking is a crucial part of not only fitting into a career, but for life in general. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Riley, I appreciate how you pointed out the term of us being in a "world of constant change," especially within the past few decades. Technology has become more readily available to most across the planet, with career fields advancing more rapidly than ever. Cheers to you for wanting to pursue physical therapy- many people nowadays need that resource, and to have a connected learning model in that field is crucial since the whole team can come from diverse backgrounds in general and in the matter of PT.

ReplyDeleteI also want to work in healthcare and found this chapter to be very interesting! As healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists' collaboration will greatly lead to new advancements, studies, solutions, and more for patients. This chapter truly opened my eyes to how important working alongside others and sharing ideas is within all fields. I like how you mentioned the idea of growth in passion. Hi Riley. I really like how you connected the chapter’s ideas to physical therapy, especially the emphasis on collaboration and learning from peers. Sharing different perspectives and experiences can have a big impact on improving techniques and patient outcomes. I also liked your point about the value of diversity, having a mix of ideas, even when they conflict, strengthens professional communities. Networking becomes more than just advancing your career; it’s about contributing to the growth of the field as a whole. Your example of teamwork improving patient care really shows how these concepts can have practical and meaningful effects.

ReplyDelete"we learn through “a world of constant change”, making formed relationships and connections especially more meaningful. This allows for community and personal growth to occur at once." Learning to navigate a digital world with so much accessible is both efficient and overwhelming, which in turn makes reliable networking skills and even prioritized virtual connections a necessary for modern professionals.
Hi Riley! I think you made a thoughtful connection between chapter two and your future career in physical therapy. Your emphasis on building relationships and sharing knowledge shows not only the support it provides for personal growth but also, how it benefits patients. I think the sentence that I found most important was, “finding diversity with several ideas and backgrounds are crucial to forming a strong group.” I strongly agree with that statement as it can apply to any professional. I know with my career field, diversity in perspectives is vital to the work.

ReplyDeleteHi Riley,
ReplyDeleteI really liked the connections you made from this chapter to your field as a physical therapist. Building a relationship and connecting with others in your field is key when wanting to perform efficient patient care.
